唐人街的㸃滴 A Portrait of Chinatown - TELUS STORYHIVE Voices 2022 (Trailer)
For the past seven months, I have been creating a docuseries centered around my personal journey of learning about our Chinatown here in amiskwaciwâskahikan. What started as a place in our city which I gravitated towards to get closer to my Hong Kong cultural identity, turned into a passion of mine that I feel I am still just starting to explore through art, documentation, and community building. Some people have asked me why I care so much about Chinatown. Well, I see Chinatowns as a symbol of the immigrant experience. Taking the ultimate risk and leaving your home to build a new, hopefully better, life for you and your family. And when I see Chinatowns in the dire states they are in across Turtle Island, with similar patterns of societal neglect, cultural erasure, and an imbalance of services provided for its residents and businesses, I can’t help but pay attention and ask questions. I have so many people to thank for supporting me on this experience of learning and connecting. Through all the joy and struggle, it has always come down to the people and I have never felt more of a sense of community than I have being in and working in Chinatown. This is a trailer for my six-part docuseries, 唐人街的㸃滴 A Portrait of Chinatown, that will be releasing in November 2022 on TELUS Optik TV supported by STORYHIVE Voices program. Co-produced with my unofficial mentor and collaborator, Shawn Tse. Follow http://www.instagram.com/jordhon for updates

Future of Home: Inclusive Housing Solutions Lab Documentary
Skills Society, Inclusion Alberta, Civida (formerly Capital Region Housing), and Homeward Trust have partnered to explore affordable and inclusive housing for people with developmental disabilities. The creation of housing and support models that are affordable, accessible, and also support the social inclusion of people with developmental disabilities is complex work that requires the coordination and cooperation of multiple stakeholders and deeper insight into the perspectives and experiences of people with disabilities. This lab seeks to address the current gaps in housing for people with disabilities using a social innovation lab approach. This project is funded by the the National Housing Strategy under NHS Solutions Lab, however, the views expressed are the views of the Future of Home Lab and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) accepts no responsibility for them.

Edmonton Living Rooms
The Edmonton Heritage Council and Multicultural Health Brokers Cooperative worked with seven different communities to create exhibits delving into the rich heritage of those who have come to call Canada home and celebrate Canada 150. This creative program combined photos, videos, stories and perspectives from around the city throughout 2017-18. amiskwaciwâskahikan/Edmonton has been a living room welcoming guests for tens of thousands of years. We wish to thank the Indigenous peoples of Treaty Six Territory, the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others, to whom we are indebted for their gracious hospitality and sacrifice, and for weaving the rich fabric of histories, languages and cultures of this place.

ACE Documentary
This documentary is a record of the community work completed by the ELL class of JDB through a CIP grant awarded by the Alberta Government. The aim of the project was for newcomer youth to get to know their neighbours in order to develop a greater sense of belonging in their community. Elements of the project included door knocking to interview and create “trading cards”, event planning and community volunteering, intergenerational digital storytelling, and painting a mural. This project followed the Abundant Communities Edmonton framework and will have a sustainable impact because the data collected has been given to the Hairsine Community League, in order to further connect neighbours around their shared interests and needs.
